Kailash Temple : The mysterious Architecture

 Kailash Temple is the adorable Architecture located at Ellora caves (Aurangabad)  built by Rashtrakuta King Krishan1 in 756-773 CE. It took 18 years to build. It built in top down approach which is the mysterious thing about the Kailash temple. It built using multiple distinct architectural and sculpture style. Interestingly, modern age engineers find it impossible to finish the same temple using modern technology in 18 years. The most important sculpture of the temple, which depict the Ravana shaking the kailash mountain and this sculpture was curved around  3-4 decades after the completion of main shrine.





Mythological fact

According to the legends, the rashtrakuta king was sufferings from severe disease and his queen prayed from god shiva to cure her husband and take a vows to build a temple if her wish was granted, and she promised to do fasting until she could see the Shikhar of the temple. After, the cured of king she requested him to construct the temple. The multiple architect declared that it would take months to complete the temple and before completing the shikhar Queen will die without food. The one of the architecture kokasa assured that the queen will able to see the shikhar in a week and he started to build the temple from the top, by carving a rock.
