Brihadeshwar Temple: The Granite temple
In modern day there is lots of amazing architecture in the world which was built with the help of technologies, but with the time they all are getting damaged and loosing their original shape and beauty and In India, their is finest example of NEEV less thousands of year old architecture Brihadeshwar Temple which is still in their original shape and beauty located in Tanjavur district of Tamil Nadu and one of the UNESCO world Heritage site.
This Temple was built by Raja raj chola-I, and dedicated to lord SHIVA. It is Dravidian style architecture This 216 feet temple made up of 1,30,000 tons of Granite and the architecture was based on Interlocking or puzzle technique in which they didn't use any kind of material to join the stones together.
In modern days if some one gives you task to put the 80 tons of material on the top of building what will you do ? and How will you do ?. Without taking one minute you will use the technologies and complete your task, but wait, 1000 year ago their was no such technologies to do this type of work, but they did by using their skills and hardwork.
On the top the temple the craftsmen kept the 81ton of single stone and carved it. This was done by using the 6 km ramp to lift the 81 ton of single stone.
- RBI issued the 1000 rupee note on 1st April 1954 and printed the image of Brihadeshwar temple.
- GOI issued the 1000 rupee silver coin on the occasion of completing 1000 year of Brihadeshwar temple.
